Jesus offers a lot of teaching on the subject of love: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength; love your neighbour as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-40) and "love one another" (John 15:12). However, his most difficult teaching on love is this: "Love your enemies" (Luke 6:27). Many would-be followers of Jesus abandon the Lord at this point. How, after all, can we possibly love the very people that hate us? In today's sermon, we take a deeper look at the notion of enemy love. What does enemy love look like? Why does Jesus ask us to love in such a way?
